My wish for your New Year….

Here is a poem by an unknown author that conveys my wish for your New Year…

A new year is beginning to peak through
softly beautiful and different like new falling snow,
each day unique and shaped just for you.
Your life adding something as each day does grow.
My wish for your new year is beauty
and softness with surprises thrown in for delight.
Love for each day bringing happiness to you,
making your life a scene of sparkle and shining sunlight.

The Aging Myth – Review by Dr. Ben Lo

Recently Dr. Ben Lo, who I greatly respect, review a new book that I’m currently reading, watch and listen to what Ben said …

Just finished reading The Aging Myth by Joseph Chang, PhD, (now available on
Amazon and Barnes & Noble) on the latest in what both science and nature reveal
about how we can influence the health of our cells – and ultimately our quality of life – as we age.

What I love about the book is that woven throughout is Dr. Joe’s love of life and his passion for
people to be able to live it fully.

Enjoy!
Dr. Ben

Handling Stress

Living in today’s world stress has become a given.  How you handle stress affects every aspect of your life.  Your personal relationships, job performance as well as your health.  Here are a few ideas to eliminate or at least lower your stress level.

1. Pause for a few minutes through out the day.  Clear your mind.  Spend 1 minute thinking of things you are grateful for.  At first for some this will be a challenge in and of its self but as the days pass you will have a hard time holding your self to 1 minute.

2.  Take time to call a friend. Just knowing someone is there for you can lower stress.

3.  Listen to some music. Taking a break and listening to relaxing music.  Playing calm music has a positive effect on the brain and body.

4. Eat the right food. Stress levels and proper diet are closely related.  We tend to eating sugary, fatty snack foods as “comfort”foods when we are the most stressed.   Try eating more fruits and vegetables as well as taking a high quality multivitamin with krill oil.

5. Take time to breath.  Take a deep breath in and hold it for a second or two.  Then exhale  completely. This will help center your body, and clears your mind.

6.  LAUGH  Laugh about anything… a funny experience you recently had…something you did that was totally out of character….Anything just laugh

7.  EXERCISE.  Get your body moving.  With movement you will feel relief quickly.

8.  Make sure you get enough sleep.  Take a few minutes each night to let your mind know that you are getting ready to sleep.  Turn off the TV, read a book and just as you are dozing off reflect on things you are grateful for.  Taking this time will help you awaken in a better state of mind the next day.
